Password Recovery Procedure for the Cisco Secure Pix 506

Step 1: press ESC directly after powering up the pix. Now monitor> prompt is displayed.

Step 2: Type interface 0 in to configure the interface 0

Step 3: To add a Ip- Address type address a.b.c.d in.

Step 4: Type server <tftp-server address> in.

Step 5: Type file np62.bin in to coppy the password recovery file on your pix.

 You will find the password recovery file here.

Step 6: Type tftp ? in to copy the "np62.bin" file on your pix.

Step 7: Type Y when the pix ask you following:

 Do you wish to erase the passwords? [yn] y

Step 8: Type Y when the pix ask you following:

 Do you want to remove the commands listed above from the configuration? [yn] y

The pix will be rebooted and the password will be removed
