Supervisor engines

Both, the Cisco7606 and the Cisco7606-S router have six horizontal slots being numbered from top to bottom and measure 7 rack units (7 RU).
While the supported supervisor engine 2 (see below) is installed in slot 1 and an optional redundant supervisor engine 2 in slot 2, the supported supervisor engine 720 and supervisor engine 32 are installed in slot 5 (first supervisor engine)and slot 6 (optional redundant supervisor engine).
!!! Note: When installing a redundant supervisor engine, both supervisor engines must be identical.
!!! Note: The GBIC uplink ports are fully functional on the redundant supervisor engine in stand by.
If a redundant supervisor engine is not required, all free slots can be equipped with any supported cisco7600 series / catalyst 6500 series module.

Supported supervisor engines in the Cisco7606 router

  • Supervisor engine 32
!!! To be installed in slot 5 (first supervisor engine) and in slot 6 (optional redundant supervisor engine).

!!! Note: While being supported in the Cisco7604 and the Cisco7606-S chassis, the route switch processor 720 is not supported in the ciso7606 router

Supported supervisor engines in the Cisco7606-S router

  • Supervisor engine 32
!!! To be installed in slot 5 (first supervisor engine) and in slot 6 (optional redundant supervisor engine).
  • Route switch processor 720
!!! To be installed in slot 5 (first supervisor engine) and in slot 6 (optional redundant supervisor engine).
    • RSP720-3C-GE
    • RSP720-3CXL-GE

!!! Note: the supervisor engine 2 is not longer supported in the Cisco7606-S router.

Power supplies and power entry modules

Both, the Cisco7606 and the Cisco7606-S router have two power supply slots on the back of the chassis, with the power supply 1 being installed on the bottom and the optional redundant power supply 2 being installed in the upper of the two slots.

Supported power supplies in the Cisco7606 router

  • 1900 watt AC-input power supply
    • PWR-1900-AC/6

!!! Note: the power entry module PEM-20A-AC is needed when using a PWR-1900-AC/6. You need one PEM-20A-AC per PWR-1900-AC/6.
The power entry modules are installed on the front of the chassis on the very top.

  • 1900 watt DC-input power supply
    • PWR-1900-DC

!!! Note: the power entry module PEM-DC is needed when using a PWR-1900-DC. You need one PEM-DC per PWR-1900-DC.
The power entry modules are installed on the front of the chassis on the very top.

  • 2700 watt AC-input power supply
    • PWR-2700-AC

No power entry module is needed when using a PWR-2700-AC

  • 2700 watt DC-input power supply
    • PWR-2700-DC

No power entry module is needed when using a PWR-2700-DC

Supported power supplies in the Cisco7606-S router

  • 2700 watt AC-input power supply
    • PWR-2700-AC

No power entry module is needed when using a PWR-2700-AC

  • 2700 watt DC-input power supply
    • PWR-2700-DC

No power entry module is needed when using a PWR-2700-DC

Fan trays

Supported fan trays in the Cisco7606 router

  • standard fan module
    • WS-C6K-6SLOT-FAN
  • high speed fan module
    • FAN-MOD-6HS

!!! Note: supervisor engine 720 configurations require the FAN-MOD-6HS. WS-C6K-6SLOT-FAN will only work in supervisor engine 2 configurations.

Supported fan trays in the Cisco7606-S router

  • high speed fan module
    • FAN-MOD-6SHS

!!! Note: As a result of the sup 32 being the minimum required supervisor engine for the Cisco7606-S, no standard fan tray is supported in any cisco7606-S configuration. Both high speed fans, the FAN-MOD-6SHS and the FAN-MOD-6HS will work in the Cisco7606-S. With the FAN-MOD-6SHS being white, the colour would be the only difference.
