Cisco7603 and Cisco7603-S routers

Supervisor engines

Both, the Cisco7603 and the Cisco7603-S router have three horizontal slots being numbered from top to bottom and measure 4 rack units (4 RU).
While slot 1 is reserved for the supervisor engine, slot 2 can contain an optional redundant supervisor engine.
When installing a redundant supervisor engine, both supervisor engines must be identical.
The GBIC uplink ports are fully functional on the redundant supervisor engine in stand by.

Power supplies

Both, the Cisco7603 and the Cisco7603-S router have two power supply slots on the back of the chassis, with the power supply 1 being installed on the bottom and the optional redundant power supply 2 being installed in the upper of the two slots.

!!! Note: No standard fan tray is supported in any cisco7603-S configurations. Both high speed fans, the FAN-MOD-3SHS and the FAN-MOD-3HS will work in the Cisco7603-S. With the FAN-MOD-3SHS being white, the colour would be the only difference
