Checking the MAC adress via console

  • if the device has no or wrong MAC-Adress on label try the following.
  • Connect to the serial console of the device (just like to a Cisco device, same serial port settings)
  • you will be asked to set a password, choose whatever you like, its not saved as long you don't save the configuration
  • type display diagnostic-information and hit ENTER
  • this will give out a huge diagnostic report, some seconds after the section =====display interface==== appears, stop the output by pressing CTRL + C
  • now search for the entry which starts with IP Sending Frames' Format is PKTFMT_ETHNT_2, Hardware address is xxxx-xxxx-xxxx
  • the xxxx-xxxx-xxxx part is the Base Mac-adress of the device
